Here's our story ...

just in case you were wondering!

linda-and-gordon-hendersonHow did it all begin? Our heads are still reeling, as we marvel at all God has done! He took our typical middle class lives, and rearranged all the pieces. While we felt that our world was coming apart, and we were on a free fall towards certain disaster, He was remolding, restructuring and rearranging our lives to become a testimony of God’s goodness and grace.

When Gordon survived a freak accident, it seemed like a blip in the horizon. When his recovery dragged on through 9 surgeries and 2 bone infections, it looked like a season for reflection. Now, after 17 years, we see the sifting and shaking was all to reposition us to pioneer a new business/ministry to bring glory to His name. And what a journey it has been!

He’s been our strength when we were so weak and confused, when we couldn’t do anything but look up and cry aloud to Him.

He has taught us about His faithfulness. He’s taught us to rely upon Him. He’s been our very present help in time of need. He made a way for us when there seemed to be no way. He’s been our Provider, and our Peace. He’s taught our hands to war and our fingers to fight. He’s been our strength when we were so weak and confused, when we couldn’t do anything but look up and cry aloud to Him. When we didn’t know where to turn or what to do, and thought we would lose everything. We brought our broken lives to Him, and He placed His loving arms around us, and became Our Father, Our Friend, and our Destiny Revealer.

When we were flat broke, and $50,000 in debt, and lost the lawsuit we were hoping would secure a future for us, God was working behind the scenes in subtle ways, preparing us for a better future than we could have imagined.

During our difficult ordeal, I made some items for our church. They were well received, and a friend came to us and said he thought we should be incorporated. And he volunteered to do the paperwork for us. When he brought us the packet with the Articles of Incorporation, another church member who was an accountant volunteered to help us with the taxes. Then another asked if he could do a website for us free of charge. Next, I got a call from Boston. This man equipped the local fabric stores in our area with fabric and trim, and wanted to come to my shop. When I told him I didn’t even have a shop, he offered to come by my house and discuss what he could do to help us. I still don’t know how he got my name! But he opened the way for us to begin to obtain fabric and trim from all over the world. And we set up shop in our house. We steadily grew until we were outgrowing our space.

So in 2004, we added a 20 x 40 2-story addition to our house, to enlarge our borders and allow our expanding business room to increase. Since we design and sew all our banners, flags, streamers and praise signals, we began to employ neighborhood high school girls to assist with the cutting, ironing and sewing of our creations. That’s when I began to see the ministry side to this business opportunity. And I started to pour into the girls what I knew about God. And I saw Him begin to blossom in them. And it was wonderful!

And now, we have branched out. We carry a vast assortment of items from Israel and all over the world. Our fabrics and trims are secured from world-wide sources. We maintain a large variety of banners, flags and streamers, and design custom items for churches and individuals. We attend conferences and we’ve begun teaching and equipping individuals and churches with items designed to enhance worship. linda-with-bannersAnd in the midst of it all, I pause and reflect about where we were 17 years ago, and where we are now. And I have a thankful heart, because I realize that God gives us the desires of our heart, even when we don’t know what those desires are. I am full of joy and feel fulfilled when I see our items being used enthusiastically, sanctified areas enhanced lifting up Jesus, and our workers serving God with their whole hearts.

I am thankful that He has allowed us to be handmaidens for Him. So thankful that He takes our lives and weaves masterpieces from the broken pieces.

Life has become so exciting, as we look forward to the subsequent moves of God. I am thankful that He has allowed us to be handmaidens for Him. So thankful that He takes our lives and weaves masterpieces from the broken pieces. And what He’s done for us should encourage others, because He’s no respecter of persons, so what He does for one, He can do for all. So I challenge you to give the Master Potter your life, and let Him mold it into something full of beauty and destiny, for His glory!

Shalom
